曾盛極一時的臺鐵東勢線於民國80年8月31日最後一班列車駛出後停駛，至今已滿30週年，臺中市政府客家事務委員會與后豐社區大學、福井鐵道文物館合作，特別於9月15日至12月20日舉辦鐵道紀念特展，在東勢客家文化園區(東勢舊火車站)展出舊時代文物、影像紀錄等，超過百件展品，讓民眾看著老照片說故事，走入屬於東勢線的時光隧道。
Taiwan Railways Dongshi Line ceased operation on August 31st, 1980, and it is the 30th anniversary this year; Taichung City Government Council for Hakka Affairs cooperated with Hou-Feng Community College and Fu Jing Railway Museum to hold a railway commemorative exhibition in the Dongshi Hakka Cultural Park (former Dongshi Station); the exhibition period is from September 15th to December 20th; there are more than one hundred exhibits, such as ancient cultural relics and video records.
臺鐵東勢線時空列車啟航！
The Space-time Train of Taiwan Railways Dongshi Line Starts Running!
中市府客委會於9月15日舉辦開幕儀式，邀請東勢站末代駕駛長劉坤秀、副站長范活盛、列車長艾美美等人身穿制服、手持搖鈴，宣布「臺鐵東勢線時空列車出發」，代表展覽正式開跑。開幕表演則由在地「東勢農會客家歌謠戲曲班」成員，演出與東勢鐵道故事相關童謠與舞蹈，並邀請「山城石府」樂團的在地歌手邱克少演唱，一同為活動拉開序幕。
The opening ceremony was held on September 15th, inviting the last chief driver of Dongshi Line, Liou, Kun-Siou, deputy station master, Fan, Huo-Sheng, and the conductor, Ai,Mei-Mei, wearing uniforms and holding handbells to announce “The Space-time Train of Taiwan Railways Dongshi Line is Departing”; the opening performance - the related nursery rhymes and dances was performed by the folksong-and-drama class of Hakka Dongshih District Farmers’ Association, and the organizer also invited the band “Shan Cheng Shi Fu” to do the performance and celebrate the activity.
一次看盡鐵道珍貴收藏
Appreciating the Precious Collection of Railways at Once
此次展品皆為民間的珍貴收藏，有枕木製成的藝術品、經典火車便當盒、剪票器、道釘、鐵道路牌標示等，還有站長室及補票室的燈座，並借來60、80年代臺鐵制服與快車小姐制服一同展出。此外，亦有極具代表性的「1:600東勢站平面圖手稿」，
於民國58年8月由黃信賀先生所繪製，50多年前的珍稀真跡藍圖出現在特展中，意義非凡。
The exhibits include artworks made of railroad ties, classic railway bento, ticket holders, ticket punches, railway spikes, railway road signs, and lamp holders of station master room and fare adjustment room; you can also see the uniforms of Taiwan Railways in 1960s and 1980s, and those of waitress of express train. In addition, there is also a very representative “1:600 Plan Manuscript of Dongshi Station” which was drawn by Mr. Huang, Sin-He in August 1985. The original artwork with a history of more than 50 years has extraordinary significance.
徵集600件老照片打造時光隧道
Collecting 600 Pieces of Photos to Create the Time Tunnel
時光隧道照片牆是此特展一大特色，經過為期兩個月的照片徵集，共募集近600件老照片與影像紀錄，再從眾多徵件中展出110件攝影作品，將劉坤秀、林志明、温文佑先生熱情提供的老照片重新設計與詮釋，而日本鐵道迷Mitsuru Murayama先生也參與徵件，提供許多舊時遊歷的老照片，使特展跨越時間與國界，展現宏觀歷史意義。
After two months of collecting photos from the public, there were almost 600 pieces of old photos and video records; and 110 pieces of works were exhibited; the old photos provided by Liou, Kun-Siou, Lin, Jhih-Ming, and Wun, Wun-You were redesigned and interpreted; the Japanese railway fan, Mitsuru Murayama, also participated in this collecting activity, and this made the exhibition cross time and borders.

此次照片募集到停駛前後、九二一地震前後的東勢線老照片，見證歷史的輝煌與軌跡，並且將東勢舊火車站的候車室樣貌還原重現，布置上舊時鐵道文物，使特展充滿濃濃復古回憶。不論是對於鐵道迷或曾經搭乘東勢線火車的民眾來說，都將是充滿感觸、富有故事的一趟時光之旅。
In the exhibition, you can see the old photos of the Dongshi Line before and after the suspension, and those of the 921 Earthquake; with the decoration of ancient cultural relics, the appearance of the waiting room of old Dongshi Station was reappeared, making the exhibition full of the nostalgic memories.

臺鐵東勢線停駛30週年回顧展自即日起至12月20日止，內容包括東勢車站老月臺重現、時光隧道照片牆、支線沿途風光等主題，並集結徵件來的舊鐵道周邊照片、舊時代文物及影像記錄，希望透過展覽尋找消失的鐵道，喚起民眾過往回憶。
The exhibition period is from now until December 20th; the content includes themes such as reappearance of the former platform of Dongshi Station, photo wall of the time tunnel, and the scenery along the branch line; through collecting old photos from the public, there are also the photos of the surrounding scenery of the old railway, ancient cultural relics, and video records; hope to evoke the old memories of the disappeared railway through this exhibition.
「愐起亻恩个車頭˙來講吾个故事－臺鐵東勢線停駛30週年特展」帶著每位前往觀看展覽的民眾重回舊時光，回到你我的青春年華、爸爸媽媽的愛戀故事、阿公阿嬤的打拼道路，一同重溫這條記錄人文與自然的鐵路。
The 30th Anniversary of the Suspension of Taiwan Railways Dongshi Line Retrospective Exhibition takes every visitor to return to the good old days and relive this railway that recorded humanity and nature together.
