Spring Tour to historic mountain railway line and Hakka village
三義鄉內風光明媚、多處熱門景點，每到旅遊旺季，總是湧入大量車潮；旅遊雜誌曾經評論：「不會塞車的活動，不是成功的活動」，正因為鄉內活動樣樣成功，使得鄉親、遊客飽受塞車之苦。有鑑於此，我們積極規劃替代方案，完成後有效改善水美街塞車景況。
本鄉自105年2月榮獲國際慢城認證以來，各類媒體爭相報導，吸引許多遊客、團體蒞臨，韓國及義大利慢城總部貴賓亦分別於105年11月及106年2月蒞鄉參訪，對於本鄉自然景緻、生態農業、木雕工藝…等讚譽有加，這是肯定也是責任，三義鄉將持續地以維護傳統、環境和經濟發展間和諧共存、營造擁有生活品質的宜居城為目標。

Sanyi Township is a place full of beautiful scenes and there are many popular attractions. During peak seasons, there will be a lot of traffic. There is a travel magazine saying ”An activity without traffic jam is not a successful one.”
Sanyi Township has been certificated by Cittaslow International since February, 2016. After the reports from media, many tourists came to visit this place. Guests from Korea and the headquarters in Italy visited Sanyi Township in November, 2016 and February, 2017. They praised Sanyi Township for the natural scenes, ecological agriculture and wood carving crafts. Sanyi Township has the responsibility to maintain the co-existence of tradition, environment and economic development and make this place to be a livable city with good quality of life. 三義鄉長 徐文達
苗栗三義是一處客家生活依舊保存著獨特風貌的山城，每年4月中旬起，山區陸續開花的油桐樹，成為三義地區季節性的觀光活動，並成為重要的客家意象。近幾年台灣重視環境保育，在自然無污染的山城因螢火蟲棲地處處可見，因此四、五月白天賞桐花，夜晚觀螢火蟲生態成為慢城生態的觀光主流。
Sanyi of Miaoli County is a mountain city which retains its unique features of Hakka life style. From every mid-April, Tung trees begin to blossom gradually. It became the season sightseeing activity of Sanyi. It’s also an important imagery of Hakka. In recent years, Taiwan has attached great importance to environmental conservation. In a naturally non-polluting mountain city, you can see firefly habitat everywhere. During April and May, watching Tung blossom in day time and firefly ecology at night became the mainstream of sightseeing of Downshifting.
「勝興車站」—建於1907年，當時只是一處信號場，1930年時由信號場變成「十六份停車場」，開始一般客貨業務。據說由於勝興火車站一帶當時有16座蒸餾樟腦的蒸餾寮灶，所以站址所在地的舊名才叫十六份，在勝興車站月台邊就可看到斗大的「十六份」舊名遺跡。1935年改稱「十六份驛」；1958年因行政區位於勝興村，才改名為「勝興車站」，一直沿用至今，已列為縣府三級古蹟。
台灣縱貫鐵路「龍騰斷橋」—未使用任何鋼筋的龍騰斷橋被譽為「台灣鐵路藝術極品」，亦是建成之初台灣鐵路線最高橋樑，於民國1935年的台中大地震中震毀，目前僅餘南端4座、北端6座的殘缺橋墩。
Shengxing Railway Station was built in 1907. At that time, it was a signal station. Its name was changed to be Shihliufen Parking Lot and it has started general passenger and freight business in 1930. It is said that there were 16 camphor kilns near the station so the old name of this place was Shihliufen(it means 16 portions in Chinese). You can see the remains of “Shihliufen” at the side of the platform of the station. Its name was changed to Shihliufenyi in 1935. Due to the district was at Shengxing village so it changed the name to Shengxing Railway Station in 1958 and it has been used until now. It is the level three ancient monument of county government.
West Coast Line in Taiwan, Long-Teng Bridge, which was built without any rebar, has been praised as the best art of Taiwan railway. It was the highest bridge of Taiwan railway at that time. After the earthquake in 1935, there are only 4 broken bridge piers at the southern and 6 ones at the north left.
「客家擂茶」—勝興老街擂茶源自於早期三義山民外出務農充飢飽餐的點心，食材中有豐富的五穀雜糧，綠茶、芝麻、南瓜子、杏仁、花生、各式堅果乾豆、玄米等材料混合磨碎後沖泡熱水飲用。在磨製過程以天然的芭樂樹或珍貴台灣苦茶木製成的擂茶棒研磨，當穀物與擂棒在苗栗老師傅以古法燒製而成的手拉坯擂缽中舞動融合時，食材散發出陣陣香味，時間彷佛進入時光隧道，依稀感受古人帶領我們感受文化傳承的奇妙體驗。
“Hakka Lei-Cha” — Lei-Cha form Shengxing old street was the snack for the early mountain people in Sanyi who going out to farming. The ingredients are abundant grains, green tea, sesames, pumpkin seeds, peanuts, various nuts dried beans and genmai. People mix and grind those ingredients, then add hot water before drink it. They used the stick made by wood from natural guava tree or Taiwanese bitter tea to grinded it. You can smell the fragrance when the grains and the stick merge in the hand-pulled bowl that was made in ancient ways by the master from Miaoli. It seemed as we entered the time tunnel and the ancient people lead us to feel the wonderful experience of cultural heritage.
北上Northbound
01.循台13線省道，由豐原經后里即可抵達三義。 Drive along Taiwan Provincial Highway 13, you will arrive Sanyi after passing Houli from Fengyuan. 02.走中山高速公路北上至三義交流道下即可。 Get off Sanyi Interchange of National Highway No. 1.
南下Southbound
01.北二高至新竹系統交流道接中山高抵三義交流道下。 Follow Freeway No. 3 and switch to the Hsinchu System Interchange and follow National Highway No. 1, then get off at Sanyi Interchange. 02.走中山高速公路南下至三義交流道下即可。 Get off Sanyi Interchange of National Highway No. 1.
各大火車站均有開出經三義站的列車(莒光、區間車)。
There are trains passing through Sanyi Station (Chu-Kuang Express, Local Train) at every major railway station.
